PF31 [OC3/12/48, STM1/4/16 Flexible Framer]

 

The STM-1/4/16 (OC-3/12/48) Flexible Framer is a combined Sonet/SDH Framer, Pointer Processor and Overhead Processor. This highly integrated solution is designed to be easily combined with a PDH Mapper, VCAT Engine or POS Mapper to create a highly specific ‘system on chip'.

Each instantiation is of STM-16/OC48 (Virtex) or STM-8/OC24 (Spartan) capacity and supports a number of different IO configurations. The following flexible set of IO configurations are available to distribute the STM16 capacity (Virtex) or STM-8 capacity (Spartan) over a number of ports for maximum flexibility.

  • Virtex 5/6, Single Port Configuration capable of supporting STM-1/4/16 (OC-3/12/48)
  • Virtex 5/6, Dual Port Configuration, each capable of supporting STM-1/4 (OC-3/12)
  • Virtex 5/6, Quad Port Configuration, each capable of supporting STM-1/4 (OC-3/12)
  • Spartan 3/6, Dual Port Configuration, each capable of supporting STM-1/4 (OC-3/12)
  • Spartan 3/6, Octal port Configuration operating at STM-1 (OC-3)

Line side data is High Order pointer processed onto the local clock domain. AU4 Mapping is supported in SDH. VC4-4c, VC4, STS12c and STS3c payloads are supported.

Overhead data is separately processed within the block for persistency, performance, alarming and events with all reverse path operations (REI/RDI) being automatically handled. All overhead is also extracted to a separate bus for onward processing if required (DCC, K1/K2, S1, Bx etc)

Configuration and Alarming is via a bi-directional message based interface.

  • DCC - D1-D3,D4-D12 extraction/insertion.
  • K1/K2-APS insertion/extraction to G.806.
  • K2-RDI generation/monitoring support.
  • S1 termination/generation.
  • H4 LOM Generation.
  • Overhead Insert/Extract over external bus for mate to mate or linecard to switch signalling.
