Omiino's VASSP Integration Tools Halve Development Times

Belfast, 16th September 2008...  Omiino Ltd, the Northern Ireland Virtual ASSP solution vendor has launched two, software only integration tools, OmniSpy™ and OmniTest™, which they claim, can reduce the integration times associated with implementing Virtual ASSPs, by up to 200%!  Virtual ASSPs are 'FPGA based Standard Product' that combines the cost, feature and performance benefits of a traditional ASSP solution with the field programmability and rapid development times associated with an FPGA. 

"Historically, integration times associated with FPGA based products for use in optical transport networks (OTN) were protracted by the complexity and expense associated with the ancillary equipment needed to test and debug the system", commented  Andrew Brown, Omiino's chief operating officer, "by using OmniSpy and OmniTest, Omiino's new, software only toolkit, customers can now significantly reduce the drain on their R&D resource while simultaneously, speeding up their time to market".

Nowhere else in the telecommunications network are deployment times more acutely important than in the Packet Optical Transport Network (P-OTN), the backbone that interconnects the entire telecommunications infrastructure.  Evolving in technology (from circuit to packet), in capacity (from megabits to gigabits) and in scale (with fibre deployment extending daily), service providers are challenged to meet constantly changing market requirements without compromising their business objectives.
